Councilwoman Tish James Endorsed by Bay Ridge Democrats
Support follows Campaign Kickoff and Other Endorsements in Recent Days
May 22, 2013 (New York, NY) – Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James’ campaign for Public Advocate announced that James has been endorsed by the Bay Ridge Democrats. The announcement comes on the heels of her campaign kick-off announcement this past Sunday, before a large crowd of supporters whose enthusiasm would not be dampened by rainy skies. The endorsement adds to the already growing list of broad support across New York City.
“I’m grateful to earn the endorsement of the Bay Ridge Dems and so many progressive New Yorkers who are ready for a Public Advocate to lead our city into the future,” said Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James. “In the City Council, I’ve been proud to pass the Safe Housing Act, preserve after-school programs, and fight for good-paying jobs for our communities. I’ll bring the same passion to the Office of the Public Advocate.”

In speech, James outlines vision for Public Advocate’s Office

James outlined her vision for the Public Advocate’s Office and called for greater engagement with the public in the movement for social and economic justice.

Upper West Side club adds to growing list of Progressives getting behind James’ campaign
May 10, 2013 (New York, NY) – Today, Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James’ campaign announced that James has been endorsed by the Broadway Democrats, an influential political club on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The endorsement (with 73% of the vote) comes on the heels of several others, including the politically potent Working Families Party (WFP) as part of a growing trend of Progressives lining up behind James’ campaign.

Three Parks Independent Democrats Endorse James in her Campaign for Public Advocate
May 9, 2013 (New York, NY) – Today, Councilwoman Letitia “Tish” James’ campaign announced that James has been endorsed by Three Parks Independent Democrats, a progressive powerhouse in Manhattan’s Upper West Side dating back nearly four decades. James won the endorsement convincingly, adding to the growing list of broad support her bid to become the next Public Advocate (see voting tally below).

Tish Opposes Bloomberg's 'Soda Ban'
Councilwoman James’s decision to speak out in opposition of the soda ban is twofold; firstly, the administration’s effort to ban soda is misplaced.
